About the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) workshops:

Americans have a right to know what's happening behind the scenes of our federal government—especially under creeping autocracy. That's why we're training young activists on how to use our rights under the Freedom of Information Act to demand an open & accountable government and keep ourselves safe while organizing. Workshop attendees will learn:

• How to write a FOIA request & when to submit one
• From FOIA experts about our rights under the Freedom of Information Act
• Use cases of FOIA by press & the public to make government transparent & accountable
• How we can use FOIA under the Trump Admin to demand answers about Elon Musk's involvement, DOGE, cuts to agencies & core social services
• FOIA in the states and how we can advocate for stronger freedom of information laws
• FAQs that training attendees may have

Activists who complete Project FOIA workshops can be certified by us to have access to workshop materials, and will be taught how to engage organizers in their communities and give them similar FOIA trainings.
