Local Group Agreement

Future Ground Network supports groups across so-called Canada that meet regularly to take action and secure healthier, more viable futures. Our members' work focuses on environmental, economic, racial, gender and disability justice as well as biodiversity, waste reduction and sustainable systems. Joining the network means connecting with organizers from other groups to share best practices, find inspiration, and work together to achieve common goals. Learn more here.

To be eligible for membership with Future Ground Network, your group must be:

  • Working on environmental, economic, racial, gender and/or disability justice, Indigenous sovereignty, biodiversity and/or sustainability
  • Actively working toward making your organizing spaces accessible and anti-oppressive
  • Aiming to build community power to achieve your goals
  • Meeting regularly with at least four active group members or with collaborators (e.g. project partners or volunteers)
  • Interested in connecting with other groups to share best practices, find inspiration, and work together
  • Interested in attending trainings to build organizing skills and capacity


To register, at least two members of your group must fill out our local group agreement. We recommend that all highly engaged members of your group fill this out as well, so that they have access to Future Ground Network resources and can join our Slack workspace to communicate with other member groups.

By filling out this form to become a Future Ground Network member, you agree to act in alignment with our Charter of Values.


Member groups will have the opportunity to...

  • Participate in training webinars as well as regional skill-building and networking events
  • Access training materials (webinars, toolkits) and digital organizing tools
  • Communicate regularly with other local groups and network support staff
  • Contribute input and feedback on network tools and resources
  • Profile and celebrate your group’s work in our newsletter and Slack workspace
  • Share ideas, knowledge, and best practices with other network members

  • Facilitate training webinars and other opportunities to connect
  • Develop training materials in response to members' interests and needs
  • Coach local organizers to help keep their groups’ organizing spaces safe and accessible
  • Support organizers in developing their own local group agreements
  • Consult local group organizers and adapt tools and resources to their needs
  • Promote the successes of local groups through Future Ground Network’s channels
  • Connect local group organizers to each other and to external expertise
