Get ICE out of Connecticut now!

Connecticut must not be complicit in the federal government's abusive immigration enforcement tactics or its creeping authoritarianism.

Armed ICE agents are terrorizing our communities — abducting parents in front of their children, targeting workers, and tearing students from their futures. These actions violate the dignity, safety, and basic rights of our neighbors.

We call on Connecticut’s elected officials — from the governor to mayors to the General Assembly — to take every possible action to protect our communities and resist federal takeover of our local communities.

Immediate and urgent action is needed to prevent our state and local resources from being used to advance the federal government's cruel mass deportation agenda.

On the state level, we urge the Governor and the legislature to take up immigrant protections during the upcoming special session:

  • Protect the Personal Information of our immigrant community. Limit the unnecessary and voluntary sharing of personal information (like home, school, or work locations) by law enforcement and public agencies (DSS, DMV, and others) with the federal government for the purposes of immigration enforcement.

  • Get ICE out of Courthouses: Prohibit ICE arrests at courthouses, including while people travel to and leave the courthouse, and empower judges to enforce this rule. Our state courthouses must not be used as sites of federal immigration enforcement.

  • Protect Our Communities from Militarized immigration enforcement: Prohibit Connecticut’s National Guard from participating in federal immigration enforcement and prevent out-of-state militias from conducting immigration- related operations within the state.

On the city level, we urge our mayors to stand united not just in words, but also in action, to protect and defend the people of Danbury.

  • Prevent Local Law Enforcement from Assisting ICE: Such as allowing ICE to use city property without a warrant, sharing surveillance footage, setting up traffic perimeters, or coordinating enforcement actions.

  • Prepare Local Families with Resources: Ensure the local school district has the support and resources to do family preparedness workshops with families, so that they can prepare and protect themselves in the case a family member is abducted.

  • Defend Local Sensitive Location: The City must create a plan of how the city would respond if and when ICE agents and vehicles are reported to be waiting outside school zones and hospitals to abduct community members.

Connecticut and our elected officials MUST not sit idly by while our neighbors are terrorized and abducted.

We say NO to mass deportations. NO to militarized raids. NO to fear. YES to dignity, safety, and sanctuary. Connecticut must be a safe and welcoming place for all of us, regardless of immigration status.
