Help make sure the Greater Manchester Basic Income Pilot happens

Let the Greater Manchester Mayor's office know why you think having a Basic Income is important for you and your community.

A lot is going on right now. But whatever happens in the coming weeks and months, the people of Greater Manchester deserve what they were promised in the current mayor’s 2024 Leading The Way manifesto:

If you set people up to succeed, the vast majority will and, in turn, that saves money on crisis provision in other public services. For this reason, we believe the logical next step, after the success of our Housing First pilot, is to bring forward a Basic Income pilot” ~ Andy Burnham

Over the preceding four years, UBI Lab GM worked tirelessly to secure this commitment to demonstrate how a Basic Income could support our communities and neighbourhoods. We now have an opportunity to tackle the challenges we face across our great city every day, and make a real difference in people’s lives.

Let’s make sure this commitment is acted upon, and the promised pilot goes ahead

We need your help to get this over the line and to get the mayor’s office to stick to their word. Whoever leads our region in the near future must know what’s needed to tackle poverty across Greater Manchester and help our neighbourhoods go from just about surviving to thriving.

Can you take a moment to tell the Mayor and local policy-makers how important it is to you and your community that they stick to their promise? *

* We need responses from people who live in the region - If you don't live in Greater Manchester you can still help.
Please share the link to this page with friends, family, colleagues and connections or post on social media tagging them, so we can get this to as many GM people as possible - thank you!

Your responses will be shared anonymously on a map (like this one)
so local, regional and national policy-makers, can see why we need to trial a Basic Income in the region.

Many thanks for your support,

Alison, Louis and Dave.
