As a grassroots campaign, connecting with one another is our greatest tool for building people power. In this time of crisis, it is more important than ever for us to talk to our friends, family members and neighbors about Zohran Mamdani’s campaign for State Assembly and our vision for a more just New York. Another world is possible, but only if we fight for it together!

That is why we are calling on you to join our Relational Organizing Team. We need your help to grow our campaign by tapping into your social networks, sharing what the campaign means to you, and making sure our REACH data system reflects our growing base of supporters.

What is relational organizing?

Relational organizing is a straightforward and effective tactic: Organizers (congrats, that's you!) reach out to people they have relationships with — friends, family members, neighbors — and ask them to participate in a campaign. Our relational organizing for Zohran has 3 main goals:

1. Spread the word about our campaign to eligible voters in Astoria.

2. Update our Reach data system to reflect our growing base of supporters.

3. Invite our friends and neighbors to attend a campaign event or join our campaign volunteer team!

What is REACH?

REACH is a mobile phone app that allows our supporters to search for people who live in Assembly District 36, which includes Astoria, Astoria Heights and Ditmars-Steinway. Once you’ve pulled up a voter’s profile, you can input their contact information and rank their support of the campaign. This allows us to identify supporters and remind them to vote by mail before the primary on June 23. This is especially essential during our current public health crisis, when our volunteers aren’t able to knock on doors and walk with our neighbors to the polls.

Who should I reach out to?

In order to reach the voters we need to show up for Zohran on election day, we need to connect with residents of NY State Assembly District 36 who are registered democrats. Make a list of any friends, family members, neighbors, close coworkers, or anyone else you know and trust who may be a registered democrat in Astoria. These are all great people to connect with. Know someone outside of the district who might be excited to volunteer? While you won’t be able to add this person in Reach, you will be able to invite them to join us for one of our campaign events or volunteer shifts!
