The fight for Medicare for All in Florida has momentum!

  • In 2021, a new grassroots group was started
  • Over the first months, activists with the Medicare for All Florida put on several text banks and phone banks. We sent out more than 44,000 text messages about Medicare for All to Florida voters, identified hundreds of Medicare for All supporters
  • on February 15, 2022, the City of Key West passed a Medicare for All resolution - unanimously!
  • A Florida Medicare for All town hall took place on February 24, with U.S. Representative Frederica Wilson and a statewide panel of speakers including a physician, economist, as well as labor and community leaders. More than 30 organizations sign-up to be co-sponsors for the town hall! Over 135 attended this virtual meeting.
  • Medicare for All Florida handed over more than 300 petition signatures from constituents as well as an organizational sign-on letter from more than 20 organizations, to U.S. Rep. Soto's office, asking the U.S. Rep. to co-sponsor the Medicare for All bill
  • In October 2022, activists with Medicare for All Florida and the Alachua County Labor Coalition successfully encouraged the Gainesville city commission, to pass a Medicare for All resolution
  • and many more successes took place afterwards!
