ICE Beat African Asylum Seeker With Sticks Last Week: Demand action and his release

On Thursday, May 24th, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers beat Prince Gbohoutou with sticks at JFK Airport in New York City for resisting deportation.

Prince is originally from the Central African Republic (CAR) and is seeking asylum. He is an artist, a community member in Prince George’s County (MD) and is married to a U.S. citizen. He was detained during his regularly scheduled check-in in Baltimore a few weeks ago and on Thursday ICE sought to deport him without notice.

Prince rightfully resisted his deportation, fearing that he would be hurt or killed if he were to return to the CAR. and was met with brutal abuse from the ICE officers. He’s back in Maryland, this time in a detention center in Frederick, but can still be deported at any moment.

Prince and his wife, Shaniece, need your help. Please sign up to make calls on their behalf in the coming days:
