Apply to start a New Common Horizon Chapter in your city!
Common Horizon currently has five chapters in Canada, and we are excited to keep growing! If you're interested in starting a new chapter in your community, apply with the form below and an organizer will follow up with you to talk through next steps
The Common Horizon New Chapter program is ~8-weeks and designed to equip new Gen Z and Millennial organizers with the skills, tools, and coaching needed to build strong chapters that are pivotal in our efforts to build the power we need to take on corporate power and win the affordability and climate solutions that we need.
You are a great fit for this role if you...
- Are passionate about winning solutions to the climate crisis alongside good work and a dignified life for all
- Wish to grow your skills and ability to organize people into effective teams and campaign for change
- Have experienced with grassroots, election or workplace organizing (an asset, but not needed)
- Between ~20-40 years old

What am I applying for?
By applying to learn more and potentially start a CHC chapter in your community, you are applying to jump into ~8 weeks of structured activities, lessons, and action toolkits that will help you and 1-3 other people in your community start a local Common Horizon chapter.
As a local coordinator you will…
- Help identify 1-3 people to build out the chapter with you (if we don’t already have a group of 2-4 folks who have already applied)
- Have the chance to meet with a coach from the national team once a week who will help you organize effectively and troubleshoot challenges and decision making
- Attend monthly Movement wide calls (with other chapters/members from across the country) and hold at local meetings with your chapter where you will get familiar with the movement DNA (culture, values, etc.), learn some basic organizing skills, and start planning out actions in your community.
- Organize a house meeting to talk to everyday working people in your networks about what you are trying to do, and how they can support the movement – we will help you out with this as well!
Time commitment can vary depending on chapter size and structure, but generally, this all takes 2-5 hours each week. After the program, you can commit to becoming an established Common Horizon chapter or plug into the movement in other ways.
