I'm Sticking with the Union

The Supreme Court has issued a 5-4 decision in Janus v. AFSCME, overturning 41 years of precedent. Betsy DeVos, Donald Trump and the Koch Brothers are already doing a victory lap. The best way to take the wind out of their sails is to show the world that despite their attacks, we’re sticking together. Take the pledge right now and let them know you’re sticking with the union.

This case wasn’t about Mark Janus, it was about defunding unions. It was about who will have power in our country—working people or big corporate interests. That’s why it’s being funded by wealthy donors and corporate interests. First they pledged $80million dollars to “defund and defang” unions. Then the Kochs, after receiving the Trump tax cut, upped the ante with $400 million to undermine public education and “break” the teachers unions. Why? Because unions fight for a better life for people and corporate interests see that as a threat to their power.

The backers of this case and their conservative counterparts have been spreading misinformation and anti-union propaganda around the Janus case in the workplace and at the homes of our members through paid-canvassing, mail and phone calls. But we’ve been engaging our members in one-on-one conversations about what this case would actually mean for our workers, and what we’re hearing is a re-commitment to the union and what we stand for.

Union members, and our allies, please sign this pledge that you're sticking with the union.
