The recent election results underscore the need for Black and Brown communities to be actively involved in political action and mutual aid that centers their voices and needs, and a local AFROSOC Section established within Broward DSA would engage these communities in socialist organizing across South Florida. As you may know, the purpose of the National AFROSOC caucus is to advocate for and build power with DSA’s Black/POC membership and their communities, to help build a multiracial working-class base, and to secure a socialist future through the empowerment of Black and Brown communities.

By establishing a local AFROSOC Section within the Broward DSA chapter, it would allow for similar local advocacy, building power within our Black and Brown constituency, while encouraging class consciousness and a socialism rooted in our shared history of liberation.
