On Friday December 4, 2019 we found out that a Grand Jury indicted both Officer Flores and Jamaica Hampton one year after he was shot by SFPD. Jamaica surrendered last week and was released without bail after almost eight hours of waiting. We are now preparing for the first court hearing on Monday 1/11 at 9am.

It is because of the SFPD that Jamaica had to have his left leg amputated in January and suffered permanent nerve damage to his left, dominant arm. He finally received his prosthetic leg just last month and is deep in the hard work of learning to use it. Jamaica is grateful to be alive—unlike so many police shooting victims— and continues to process this and the many other challenges he has faced in his life including the recent passing of his mother.

Jamaica wants nothing more than to be free and to begin the next chapter of his life. We want to create a support team that can show up to his court dates, contact the DA, and engage in future actions!

We ask that those who want to show up for Jamaica respect his wishes to not provoke the officers present, but to be there in solidarity. Since Jamaica is being tried alongside Office Flores we imagine there will be a number of police officers present. We ask for restraint as this court-case, recognizing that while this court-case is part of a larger struggle, our intentions first and foremost are to get the court to drop charges against Jamaica Hampton. Let's show up together in solidarity.

We want family, friends, and community members show up for Jamaica. You can support him by signing up to receive future updates on his case!
