Volunteering with JCIJ includes many ways of walking in solidarity with immigrants as they navigate the complicated and often frightening immigration system, offering chesed - loving kindness, solidarity, and community.

Here are the current volunteer opportunities through JCIJ:

Walk side-by-side with immigrant community members

Volunteer with JCIJ or partner programs to support individuals and organizations. Witness and document immigration court proceedings to support partner organizations; join a small group to help migrant families build community in the Seattle area; and support community members and volunteers before appointments.

Accompany community members to high stakes immigration appointments in Seattle. Referrals come from the WAISN Hotline or from legal service providers. Training is required and fluency in a language other than English may be needed. Please note: The next Accompaniment Training is not scheduled yet, so we are not currently taking new Accompaniment Volunteers.

Grow the movement for immigrant justice

Work with our volunteer teams to engage new action takers with immigrant justice. We’re looking for folks who are comfortable leading or educating groups, and volunteers interested in helping develop educational and training materials. Join our Advocacy Committee to support legislative change; show up to defend immigrant rights at vigils and rallies; and learn about the current administration’s attacks on immigration and the realities on the ground for vulnerable and impacted communities.

Outreach and fundraising support for JCIJ activities

JCIJ's accompaniment and other activities receive support through fundraising, grants, and other outreach. In addition, funds are needed to support JCIJ's activities. If your skills would enable you to provide support for JCIJ's communications, outreach, or fundraising activities, please complete the form to indicate your interest. Our annual fundraiser is coming up in May! We would welcome your support in preparing for this event, which raises most of our yearly budget.
