When you joined AmeriCorps, you answered a call to service and joined a lifelong community. Many others of you may not have served, but you have worked tirelessly to support programs that provide critical services. Today, the AmeriCorps community is calling on you again.

In April 2025, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) ordered the cancellation of approximately $400 million in AmeriCorps grants — around 40 percent of the agency's annual budget. This decision has affected over 1,000 organizations and more than 32,000 AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers across the country. Hundreds of NCCC members have been demobilized, and most of AmeriCorps' full-time staff are facing layoffs.

But we are not powerless in the face of these cuts. We've been here before. We know how to organize, how to serve, and how to make our power felt. As AmeriCorps alumni and supporters, we have something powerful — our stories, our passion, and our networks in every community across America.

Together, we can create the political pressure needed to save national service.
