Join the Cosecha Operations Team!

About the Operations Team:

The Operations Team is a vital piece of the movement that is building intentional systems and supporting a national infrastructure led by undocumented immigrants to win permanent protection, dignity and respect for all immigrants.
At Movimiento Cosecha, we believe in building a decentralized national grassroots effort that grounds itself in the belief that everything we need is already in our community and holds a value of interdependence as key to winning. The operations team's ensures that we continue to build a movement of undocumented immigrants, helps keep fiscal structures legal and functioning, and acts as a shield between what we are creating and the world of non profits and other state-designed market structures. Whether it's helping create a 2 million dollar fund for undocumented immigrants excluded from government stimulus, or finding new ways to distribute resources to immigrant leaders across the country so they can lead the work while taking care of their families, or finding ways to bring resources to the movement from working class people not the state or corporations - the Ops Team is crucial to the work of building people power.

Qualifications for Team Members:

  • Desire to use your administrative, financial, or legal skills to support social movement work
  • Creativity and a desire to build alternative structures for social
movement work, specially those that challenge the ways the non profit industrial complex operates
  • At least 2 years of administrative experience
  • Have skills in troubleshooting, attention to detail, ability to plan in advance and adapt as needed
  • Preferable: Conversational Spanish
  • Preferable: Open to relocating to live with team members

Joining the Cosecha Volunteer Organizer Network:

Members of the operations team become part of the collective of volunteer organizers for Cosecha. Cosecha volunteer organizers, or VOs, practice voluntary simplicity, in the tradition of the United Farmworkers and social movements that have come before us. This helps us stay connected to the community we are working with and allows us to meet the needs of our campaigns and programs without being reliant or guided by the market of non profit funding. Cosecha meets the basic material needs for all full-time organizers. This includes providing a $500/month stipend, housing and groceries in a Cosecha Movement house (or in housing provided by the communities in which we work), reimbursement for minor health related costs, and transportation.

This is a full time position with a commitment of 1 year.
