This April, the mayor’s office handed over a “draft” of the 2025–26 budget to Louisville Metro Council, who will most likely pass it with little to no changes. Before the budget is passed, there will be a single community budget hearing for the working people of Louisville to give feedback. This process is undemocratic, and the people of Louisville deserve better.
This spring, the People’s Budget Campaign has hosted public town halls to draft a truly participatory amendment to the Metro budget by democratic vote to be presented to Metro Council. Join our email list ahead of the FINAL People's Budget Town Hall and our subsequent pressure campaign as we demand Metro Council finally democratize our dollars.
Our final public town hall meeting is Sunday, May 18th at 2pm at the main library (301 York St.) followed by a community cookout at 4pm at Louisville DSA's Smoketown office (900 S. Shelby St.) Our final town hall will consist of all discussion, debate and amendments on our final budget document before we go out into our communities and rally our neighbors around a document that reflects their needs and their values.
All are welcome! Can't make the meeting in person? Join us on Zoom!
