The federal government recently enacted a reconciliation package that will cut $23 billion in annual funding to New York State to pay for a tax cut for billionaires. This will have devastating effects:

• More than 70 hospitals statewide are at risk of closure
• 1.5 million New Yorkers will be newly uninsured
• More than 300,000 New Yorkers will lose some or all of their SNAP benefits
• More than 200,000 New Yorkers will lose their jobs

To fill budget gaps that the federal government has created, New York State may need to increase taxes, layoff employees, cut funding for public services, and more.
