Join Tsuru for Solidarity's Seattle Anti-Detention Campaign Work

Tsuru for Solidarity (TFS) believes that for true transformation to a more just society, we must abolish the immigrant detention system that imprisons children, separates families, and wrecks our communities. Abolition means creating structures that make our communities safer and preventing violence and harm, without police, incarceration and replacing the punishment system with one that prioritizes restorative justice.

TFS has become a co-leader with La Resistencia in their 11-year campaign to shut down ICE’s Northwest Detention Center (NWDC) in Tacoma, WA which is owned and operated by for-profit corporation GEO Group. This organizing is particularly urgent in the wake of yet another death in solitary confinement due to medical neglect in October 2024. Together, we also monitory and observe ICE deportation flights out of the municipal airport, King County Airport (formerly Boeing Fields International).

Our commitment is stronger than ever, and we are determined to shut down this deadly facility once and for all, shut down all detention sites, and end the cruel and costly practice of deportation flights starting in Washington state.
