Open Letter: Take back our schools!
At the 2014 Representative Assembly, educators voted to reclaim our schools and save our students from toxic testing.
There is a bill in the House, the Student Testing Improvement and Accountability Act (H.R. 4172) that would help by returning to federal grade span testing. If enacted, students would be receive federal tests once in elementary school, once in middle school, and once in high school.
Our voices are being heard, but we can’t let up now! Join us if you believe it is time to:
- end the excessive and toxic testing in our schools
- develop a real accountability system that prioritizes learning over labels
- ensure that each public school is a place in which every student thrives
Together, we can put the focus of public education back on student learning.
