Don't Leave Mainers in the Cold: House Everyone!
No matter who we are, where we’re from, or how much money we have in the bank, we all deserve a place to call home – where we can feel safe, celebrate the good times, and recover from the bad times. But that’s not how it is for thousands of Mainers.
Across Maine, rich landlords are hiking up rents and putting families on the street. They believe they should be able to do what they want with their property, and their profits are more important than ensuring everyone has a home. Eviction rates are up 25%. Housing costs have skyrocketed. And more and more people have no place to go.
But when we work together, we can change that, and ensure that all Mainers have a roof over their heads.
Right now, our representatives in Augusta are working on bills to help Mainers with very low incomes afford housing, protect renters from discrimination and unfair eviction, and build new homes for people of all income levels.
Some of Maine’s biggest, richest landlords are organizing against tenants’ rights, and we know they’ll lobby furiously to stop these bills. We can’t let that happen. Sign on to tell lawmakers to fight to make sure everyone in Maine has access to safe, affordable housing.
