For over a year now we've been getting arrested under the UK Terrorism Act in our thousands for holding paper signs calling on the UK government to reverse their unjust ban on Palestine Action.

The new Prime Minister has a choice: Lift The Ban on Palestine Action, or continue to allow the arrests and prosecutions of UK citizens for peacefully protesting.

You may remember we took the campaign to Labour’s 2025 conference at short notice, just after Shabana Mahmood had become Home Secretary. 66 wonderful people aged between 18 and 87 were arrested outside the conference centre for holding paper signs. Since Burnham has reappointed Mahmood in that role despite her awful track record on civil rights, we’ve decided to go to his first conference in full force, with two months to prepare and mobilise.

Hundreds of ordinary citizens getting arrested under terrorism legislation for holding paper signs right outside the windows will show Burnham early in his term what the people want and what they will do to get it.

Destroying the tools used to kill children is not terrorism; it is effective resistance to crimes against humanity. The proscription of Palestine Action is a huge attack on our democratic right to protest, especially in the midst of a genocide which our government is participating in.

We will continue to stand up for our rights and the rights of those in Gaza and the West Bank. The question is: will Burnham?
