TVA wants to replace coal with more fossil fuels at its Kingston plant, which would require building a 122-mile pipeline. After decades of coal burning at Kingston and the largest coal ash spill in US history, TVA should not continue to dump dangerous fossil fuel pollution into the air and water in Roane and surrounding counties for another 30 years. A mix of renewable energy, storage and energy efficiency would create more jobs, save money and provide equally reliable power.

Appalachian Voices and the Sierra Club are supporting affected community members who have organized a community meeting from 5:30-6:30 pm ET on June 14 at Kingston’s community center. Please join us to learn more about the proposal to replace the Kingston plant and how you can advocate for a clean energy future for East Tennessee! Stay for the TVA open house that follows at 6:30 p.m. ET.
