Tell Congress to heed the warning of the IPCC and act to ban fossil fuel subsidies
The fossil fuel industry receives up to $20 billion dollars in direct subsidies per year. These subsidies are any form of government support for coal, oil, and gas. Many subsidies just end up making it easier for fossil fuel companies to produce coal, oil, and gas and inflate their profits.
It's time for our government to divest from systems of exploitation and extraction, like fossil fuels, and begin investing in community health and well-being. Ending fossil fuel subsidies is a vital next step.
The window for curbing the worst impacts of climate change is narrowing. Tell your elected officials to stop using our tax dollars to support the companies responsible for the climate crisis.
Congress must remain firm for what we really need – an infrastructure package that meets the urgency of the climate crisis and builds an economy where everyone can prosper. It's time to start putting families and communities before the profits of the industry responsible for fueling climate disasters.
