Stop Compromising Your Future. Demand It.

They tell us to compromise. They tell us to find the "middle ground" with people who actively dismantle our rights, ignore the climate crisis, and hoard economic security.

The middle ground got us here. It is a dead end.

Future We Demand (F.W.D., colloquially "Forward") is an independent statewide movement of young Iowans refusing to accept managed decline. We hear about it often, "Iowa used to be #1 in education!", or that it "used to be..." [insert great thing, as the saying goes...].

But we know that candidates sweet talking the electorate about "bipartisanship" often means outside Democratic picks changing their positions to the median opinion of an electorate that has been misled by algorithms tuned to spread hatred.

Wouldn't you prefer leaders who force the conversation? Leaders who articulate an unapologetic progressive vision for the future, convince our neighbors why we ought to move forward, and build the machinery to build it into reality?

We do not wait for the establishment to save us. We build our own power. We are as grassroots as they come; we started as a few bands of young Iowans who met statewide to grow their organizing power and fight back for a better future.

Here are a few of our demands:

• We Demand Universal Education: Free from historical revisionism and corporate commodification.

• We Demand Material Security: Public housing, universal healthcare, and an end to the military overspending that starves our communities.

• We Demand Actual Strategy: We operate independently, but we intervene directly in party machinery to usher in reform. We connect volunteers statewide -- meaning our network can deploy resources from Cedar Rapids to flip a critical race in Sioux City.

You are tired of politicians asking for your vote without offering a vision. We are too.

Civic death is exactly what the opportunists want. Defeat it.
