Master Plan for Aging Action to Win Long-term Services and Supports for All
BACKGROUND:
California is developing a road map for how the state will make all of its communities "age friendly." The Master Plan for Aging offers the state the opportunity to ensure all people who live disabilities, at any age, can afford to live in their home and community of choice. And to ensure that our state's Long-term Services and Supports (LTSS) system is one where those who provide long-term care - whether paid professionals or unpaid family caregivers- are treated with dignity.
On September 15th, the Master Plan for Aging Stakeholder Advisory Committee is having its final meeting to approve language being submitted for review by the Department of Aging.
A growing grassroots movement of people with disabilities, older adults, family caregivers, personal care assistants and other LTSS providers are coming together to demand that the Master Plan for Aging prioritize the creation of a universal Long-term Services and Supports social insurance program that is affordable to ALL, and covers all who need it, particularly people with disabilities, undocumented immigrants and current retirees, and covers all supports and care needed.
This program should draw upon a progressive funding source, such as a wealth tax and/or progressive payroll tax, and cover all supports and care needed and include strong protections and incentives for the long-term care workforce.
Join us to ensure that the Master Plan for Aging final report from the Stakeholder Advisory Committee prioritizes Universal Long-term Services and Supports!
