MEMBER ADVOCACY LEGISLATIVE & POLITICAL PROGRAM (M.A.L.P.P.)
As a constituent and a state employee your voice is powerful in the political process.
This past legislative session proved the importance of collective action. When the Dept. of Legislative Services recommended delays to negotiated colas, WE SPOKE UP!! In a span of 30 days we sent approximately 800 letters and made calls to legislators. Our collective action resulted in stopping the delay of our July cola and changing of the language in BRFA to include our bargaining unit for additional increases. If we achieved this success with 30 days of action, we will achieve more with 90 days of planned action.
Your involvement in legislative and political action is an opportunity to take ownership in the strengthening of our union. The Member Advocacy Legislative & Political Program (M.A.L.P.P.) is direct involvement with elected officials to keep our issues on the front line and hold them accountable.
We need member volunteers who are willing to:
- Attend training
- Educate colleagues and legislators of MPEC's agenda
- Meet with legislators and their staff
- Attend rallies and other relative events
