We have a plan to flip Minnehaha County - and that's why we're here to ask folks to join our digital team.

In South Dakota, Minnehaha County is one of, if not the single most important (and flippable!) county on the map. Any road to a Democratic victory in South Dakota runs right through Minnehaha County.

A big part of what it will take to flip Minnehaha County is a modern, competent, digital strategy; this doesn't mean a 10-person approvals process where everybody has a tiny tweak they'd like to make to a graphic before it finally goes up on socials. Here at Minnehaha Democrats, we want to recruit people who already understand internet culture, and we want to let these individuals run their show.

Think "KamalaHQ", and how the members of that social media team were given a few key guidelines and guardrails for the entirety of the cycle, and outside of that, were allowed to "run wild." This strategy led to the most successful and astronomic growth of any political digital campaign in the modern era.

So, if you're chronically online; if you have social media, design, film, or editing experience; if you're just a Democrat who spends far more time on TikTok than they'd like to admit: we want you to join the crew.

Expectations

NOTE: NONE OF THESE ARE DEALBREAKERS. IF YOU BELIEVE YOU WOULD BE A BENEFIT TO THE DIGITAL TEAM, SUBMIT AN APPLICATION, AND WE'LL SEE HOW YOU CAN HELP!

• All roles at the Minnehaha County Democratic Party are volunteer positions. As such, membership on the digital team is unpaid. However, knowing that, all time commitments to the role are negotiable. Basically, do the job and the work when you can. Communicate with the chair when you can't.
  • Base time commitment: ~3-5hr/wk (negotiable)
• Social media management experience not required, but preferred.
• Professional political experience not required; however, a general understanding of modern American politics is a plus.
• Experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other equivalent programs is a plus.
• Experience creating short-form video content (~1-3min) is a plus.
• Experience with video editing software (CapCut, in-app social media video editors, Adobe Premiere, or other equivalent programs) is a plus.

Requirements

• Members must be a registered Democrat in Minnehaha County.
  • Note: if you are a college student and are on campus outside of Minnehaha County for the academic year, you may still apply so long as you are a registered Democrat in Minnehaha County.
