Sign Up for Moral Monday: Forward Together, Not One Step Back!

After being inspired by the movement in North Carolina, Moral Mondays kicked off at the Georgia State Capitol on January 13, protesting Governor Nathan Deal's refusal to expand medicaid-- a decision that leaves over 600,000 Georgians uninsured. Since then, rallies have been held at the capitol every Monday, fighting for issues that affect hard working Georgians, from demanding better access to public eduction, to calling for the repeal of Georgia's "Stand Your Ground" law. So far, over 30 people have been arrested in acts of civil disobedience, sacrificing their freedom to shine a spotlight on the state's extreme radical agenda that we can no longer afford to keep. When Georgia's elected officials act against the best interest of Georgians it's time to stand up and be counted.

Recently, Republicans introduced a bill that would take the decision to expand Medicaid away from the governor’s office. We know that this bill is in response to public pressure that’s been created by regular Georgians standing up to outdated policy and rhetoric. Instead of addressing the issue and dealing with the reality that most Georgians support Medicaid expansion, the right wing extremists that control the state legislature are changing the rules and creating yet another barrier to providing healthcare and jobs to those who need it the most.

They are feeling the pressure, and with only a few weeks left in the legislative session, join us to make sure our message is heard.  We are calling on all the good men and women of Georgia to come together and reverse this extreme right wing agenda that benefits a few at a cost to everyone else. Our state budget is a moral document that should lift the common good above the needs of the super-rich.  Add your voice to a choir so loud it cannot be ignored!
