#MuslimAnd Week of Action Sign-Up

#MuslimAnd is a campaign of the Muslim Youth Leadership Council at Advocates for Youth — a group of young Muslims from across the country that work to challenge and expand common perceptions of Muslims, both within and outside of our communities.

As Muslims, we are not monolithic. Instead of saying “I am Muslim, but…” young Muslims are claiming an intersectional space and saying that we are #MuslimAnd. Now more than ever, we must call attention to the diversity, expansiveness, and intersectionality of our community. We are #MuslimAnd Queer, #MuslimAnd Feminist, #MuslimAnd Afro-Latinx, #MuslimAnd Angry, #MuslimAnd 5th Generation American, #MuslimAnd Nonbinary, and more.

This year's #MuslimAnd Week will take place from May 20th - May 24th and anyone can sign up here to take part in the digital components.

Young Muslims Demand: No More Nazaar!

As our rights to free speech, religious practice, bodily autonomy, and LGBTQ+ organizing are increasingly under attack by state surveillance, we demand an end to Nazaar, or evil eye, as we imagine and create communities of care. This week sign up to join us as we:

  • Ask Congress to defund harmful surveillance programs
  • Share tips on surveillance self defense
  • Talk about self managed abortion as Muslims
  • Share our #MuslimAnd stories

We are tired of the existing tropes that fail to see our complex identities and feed into the culture of fear and hatred against Muslims. When stories about us continue to be told in Islamophobic, racist, misogynistic, and homophobic ways, we affirm our right to tell our own stories in our own voices throughout this week to counter harmful narratives.

If you’re a young Muslim yourself, or even if you’re an ally to our community, sign up to participate in the #MuslimAnd Week of Action online and in your community today!
