No To Union Busting at Kimpton Clocktower Hotel

Clocktower Hotel workers (faces blurred for fear of victimisation)

No To Union Busting at IHG UK: Respect your workers at Kimpton Clocktower/Refuge & recognise their right to raise issues collectively

Staff at the iconic Manchester Kimpton Clocktower Hotel are fighting for better working conditions and trade union recognition, yet so far the employer has refused to engage in meaningful dialogue with workers - ignoring the collective nature of their grievance - as well as declining to even enter talks about possible trade union recognition.

They are fighting to end the overworking of employees, unreasonable notice in rota changes, impractical uniform, lack of support when staff are off sick, poorly equipped work environment, and the unsafe travel arrangements for staff travelling to and from work in the early and late hours.

Workers also have concerns that the employer may be engaging in trade union victimisation, with 2 trade union leaders being sacked after submitting a collective grievance.

Additionally, workers have also faced animosity from higher management, making judgement on character for being a part of the trade union movement, as well as making negative comments towards unionising in general, in response to posters put up in staff areas and pin badges worn by staff

One Kimpton worker said “IHG UK currently has no policies on collective grievances, but they are using this to justify their refusal to hear our issues. They have attempted to divide and conquer by only hearing grievances on an individual level and refusing to believe that the problems raised are not faced by all staff members.”

Sign the petition calling on IHG UK to stop targeting union activists, recognise the Kimpton worker’s rights to have their grievance heard collectively, and support their union recognition campaign.
