Despite record profits and outrageous income inequality, Starbucks, Amazon, and other US companies have been union-busting to stop workers from bargaining for better wages and benefits, safer working conditions, and a voice in the workplace.

The federal agency that polices labor-management relations, The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), has accused major corporations of illegal anti-union practices including firing workers in retaliation for supporting a union.

• The NLRB has accused Chipotle of illegal retaliation when it shut down a store shortly after workers in Augusta, Maine, petitioned for a unionization vote.

• Apple is accused by the NLRB of illegally spying on and threatening workers which led workers in Atlanta to withdraw their request to hold a unionization election.

• Trader Joe’s closed its wine shop in New York City days before workers planned to announce a union election. The workers have accused the company of shutting the store to quash the union drive and retaliate against the workers.

The Protect the Right to Organize (PRO) Act would restore the right of workers to freely and fairly form a union and bargain together for changes in the workplace. Unions are essential to an economy that works for the workers of America.
