As parents, caregivers, grandparents, educators, and community members, we believe every child deserves to grow up in neighborhoods and schools built on trust—not constant surveillance.

We reject the false choice between safety and civil liberties. Our children deserve both.

Today, I pledge to:

• Stand against the expansion of automated surveillance technologies, including Flock Safety license plate readers and similar systems, in my child's school and neighborhood.
• Demand transparency from school districts, local governments, and law enforcement about what surveillance technologies are being used, what data is collected, who has access to it, and how long it is retained.
• Advocate for evidence-based safety strategies that invest in people—not mass data collection—including counselors, mental health supports, restorative practices, youth programming, accessible housing, and community violence prevention.
• Protect every child's right to privacy, regardless of their race, disability, immigration status, religion, gender identity, or family background.
• Speak out when surveillance disproportionately targets marginalized communities or expands government monitoring without meaningful public oversight.
• Support parents, students, educators, and neighbors organizing for safer communities rooted in dignity, accountability, and democracy.
• Encourage my school board and local elected officials to reject unnecessary surveillance contracts and prioritize investments that strengthen relationships instead of expanding monitoring.
• Teach my children about their civil rights and the importance of privacy, freedom of movement, and democratic participation.
