A time for change in Orleans Parish

For far too long, our legal system subscribed to a “convict at all cost mentality.” This system of prioritizing punishment over people has disproportionately affected Black and brown communities. It’s time to elect candidates that will create a system that works for all of us.

Arthur Hunter walks it like he talks it

Arthur Hunter is a 9th Ward native and has spent his career as a champion for the people of New Orleans. As a District Judge, he set up Louisiana’s first re-entry court focused on rehabilitation and training to keep people out of prison.

As District Attorney, Arthur will strengthen partnerships with local colleges to offer non-violent offenders a second chance at education and employment opportunities and decrease the likelihood of repeat offenses. Arthur will hold police in the street and prosecutors in the courtroom accountable and ensure their goal is to seek justice ethically, and will develop a diversion program targeted at our youth to finally eliminate the school-to-prison pipeline that has devastated our communities.

Arthur believes in the principles of restorative and rehabilitative justice and will lead to transformative change in our legal system.
