VOLUNTARY FEE PLEDGE OF SUPPORT FOR CALPIRG UCSB CHAPTER
CALPIRG is the student-directed and student-funded nonprofit for UC students, at eight of the UC campuses. We work to defend the environment, protect public health, and and promote civic engagement. We have been active at the UCs for over 40 years and have accomplished a lot, including working to increase federal financial aid by $36 billion, banning plastic grocery bags in California to protect our oceans, and registering 40,000 students to vote in 2016. We are funded by tens of thousands of UC students that contribute through the CALPIRG voluntary pledge fee. This gives us the resources to hire our own professional staff that work with students to research problems and solutions, write bills and lobby our elected officials in Sacramento and Washington DC, and run effective grassroots campaigns to win. Each CALPIRG pledge is crucial in giving us the resources to fight for the environment and students.
CALPIRG Pledge:
As long as at least 15% of the UCSB student body pledges to pay the CALPIRG voluntary fee, then I, too, agree to support CALPIRG by paying the $10 per quarter voluntary fee each quarter that I'm a registered student at UCSB. Please bill me for this fee every quarter.
I understand that if I no longer wish to be billed for the CALPIRG fee, I must submit a written notice of cancellation to CALPIRG.
No student will be billed the CALPIRG fee unless 15% of the student body has pledged to pay the fee. If less than 15% of the students participating in the association(s) has paid the CALPIRG fee, a student referendum or AS vote must be held in order to continue billing the CALPIRG fee. Reversal forms are available through CALPIRG. For questions or reversals, please email info@calpirgstudents.org. Reversals become effective the following quarter. Federal Privacy Act Notification: I understand that CALPIRG may see this form in the billing process.
