As the CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), al Jaber is responsible for maximizing the company's profits. Under his leadership ADNOC pumped 2.7 million barrels of oil per day in 2021. According to OPEC, he aims to nearly double that output by 2027. Increasing the production and consumption of fossil fuels -- a major contributor to global warming -- is in direct conflict with the leadership role al Jaber is to assume at COP28.

The stakes are too high to leave it up to chance. That’s why over 100 lawmakers from the United States and the European Parliament have called for his removal -- and we can pile on the pressure by echoing their demand.
