Priority Electoral Campaign Petition - Rae Huang for Los Angeles Mayor

WHEREAS, Rev. Rae Huang is a Presbyterian pastor, a community organizer, and a housing advocate who is running a truly grassroots insurgent campaign against the sitting mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass. Rae’s campaign has already registered over 700 volunteers to knock doors, and recently captured national attention on Hasan Piker’s livestream of the 1/30 National Shutdown protest at City Hall. Rae will champion the use of public funds and public land to build housing that is truly affordable to the working class, and an LAPD under Mayor Rae would protect and serve the people, not ICE, federal buildings, or mega events. Rae believes that if you have the political will, you can accomplish anything, and she is exactly the bold, visionary socialist leader that this moment demands; and

Whereas, Rev. Rae Huang has previously submitted a candidate questionnaire available to DSA-LA members in good standing;

Therefore be it resolved that DSA Los Angeles endorses Rev. Rae Huang for the position of Mayor of Los Angeles upon the passage of this resolution.

When DSA-LA endorses someone or something that means not only are we vouching for them/it, we are also going to put in work in support of the candidate or initiative by forming a working group that will volunteer hundreds of hours organizing canvasses, phone banks, doing research, making content for social media, and more. It is a massive commitment to make and depends on large amounts of chapter enthusiasm and labor to mobilize and succeed in our electoral work.
