PSU-AAUP Strike Pledge

Commitment to vote yes to strike and strike if administration forces us to
After painful layoffs of 12 IELP and 17 non-tenure track faculty colleagues, the administration’s refusal to negotiate the conditions we deserve, over 150 hours of bargaining, and the administration being censured by the faculty senate, enough is enough. The PSU-AAUP leadership is recommending it’s full membership commit to vote yes to authorize a strike should mediation fail and a strike vote be called.
While the Cudd administration finds $85 million more for construction, their initial economic offer doesn’t come close to making up for members’ 1% annual pay raises when inflation was in double digits. For over 150 hours of bargaining, administration has refused to negotiate equitable layoff protections, workload protections, or any increase to post-tenure review, AP and annual increases, or the non-tenure track faculty PCAR increases that members and our families deserve.
Filling out this form is a commitment to do two things: 1) vote yes in a strike vote if mediation fails and 2) join PSU-AAUP picket lines if the Cudd administration forces us to strike. Each additional commitment to vote yes and strike gives our bargaining team additional bargaining power to win the conditions faculty, staff, and students deserve.
NOTE: Completing the strike commitment card DOES NOT mean we are going on strike. Per PSU-AAUP’s constitution, there must be an official vote to authorize a strike by PSU-AAUP members.
