Free the Future is a campaign of the Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools (AROS), a coalition of parents and caregivers, educators, students and community members, organizing together to protect and strengthen public schools.

We know that the only way that we can defeat the anti-public school extremists is by coming together across background, geography and political party to fight for the welcoming, thriving schools our kids deserve. That is why we are recruiting hundreds of Public Ed Defenders from across the country who are ready to do more protect and strengthen public schools, and are seeking community and support to do that.

Nominate yourself or someone you know to be a Public Ed Defender if you/they....
  • Are a public schools parent/caregiver who is ready to stand up and organize for public schools
  • Are sick and tired of relentless attacks against our public schools
  • Are getting started with advocacy and feel like you're fighting alone AND/OR are part of a group but want to gain skills to be more effective  
Public Ed Defenders will receive:
  • Training and support to build your base, including topics like outreach, petitioning, 1-1 conversations and phone-banking  
  • 1-1 coaching from experienced organizers to help grow and expand your campaigns for public ed  
  • Community with other public ed activists and organizers
  • Access to digital tools to help strengthen your organizing
  • Goal-setting along the way to help track your progress

Limited stipends available in target states: SD, ND, AR, NE, AK, ID, with potential expansion.
