Rep. Mike Nearman must resign

House Speaker Tina Kotek announced yesterday that on December 21st, Rep. Mike Nearman opened a door and allowed at least 50 right-wing extremists to enter the State Capitol.

These extremists, many armed and flouting COVID guidelines, intended to disrupt the legislative session. Nearman's actions endangered lawmakers and Capitol staff. The right-wing mob assaulted journalists, terrorized legislators and fought with police. This attack interrupted legislators as they as tried to pass vital COVID relief.

In the past, Rep. Nearman has peddled racist legislation intended to harm immigrants, and challenged COVID restrictions. He walked out in 2018 to prevent critical climate change legislation and supported fraudulent lawsuits to overturn the 2020 elections. Now he's enabled right-wing terror.

Speaker Kotek is already exploring disciplinary options measures, but we don't have to wait. Tell Rep. Nearman to resign.
