RSVP for FICC's Extreme Heat Preparedness Workshop

As climate change continues to increase global temperatures, extreme heat events are becoming more frequent and severe. Heat waves can pose serious health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations such as children, older adults, and individuals with preexisting health conditions.

The Fairmount Corridor — Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan and Hyde Park — has some of the hottest summertime temperatures in Boston. It is essential for communities to be prepared with the knowledge and resources needed to stay safe during extreme heat events — and we're here to help!

Join our Extreme Heat Preparedness Workshop on Saturday, June 28 from noon-2pm for an informative and engaging session focused on equipping attendees with tips, tools, and strategies to manage and mitigate the risks associated with extreme heat. Participants will learn practical ways to stay cool, how heat impacts us, how to recognize signs of heat-related illnesses, how climate change effects extreme heat, and how to access local resources to protect themselves and their families.

We will also be giving away 50 free Heat Emergency Kits, which will include essential items such as sunscreen, water bottles, cooling accessories, and other resources to help individuals stay safe during extreme temperatures. Please note that those who RSVP will be prioritized to receive a Heat Emergency Kit. Everyone is welcome, but we will limit folks to two (2) Heat Emergency Kits per family to maximize our impact across the community.

Additionally, we will be raffling off multiple window-unit Air Conditioners for free (every adult attendee gets one free raffle ticket)!

Food and refreshments will be provided. Location: The Guild Community Sanctuary room - 260 Washington St, Dorchester, MA 02121
