RSVP for Reenergize Southwest Virginia

The Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals, and Energy (DMME) is seeking comments from local residents on how Virginia should provide economic transition support to the coalfield region during two public listening sessions in early July.

The Reenergize Southwest Virginia listening sessions are part of an initiative that will help DMME address the elimination of Virginia’s coal tax credits, which helped fund economic development across the region, via legislation passed in 2021. This legislation also directs DMME, and other regional stakeholders, to use these public comments to create recommendations on how the Commonwealth can provide economic transition support to the coalfield region.
