Sam Sukaton for Board of Equalization District 3- Priority Electoral Campaign Petition
Sam Sukaton is a cadre DSA member and socialist with depth and breadth of political experience, running for Board of Equalization District 3 on a platform to put California schools and communities first and go after one of the greatest impediments to socialist policies in California: Proposition 13, which enshrines the power of the landlord lobby and suburban homeowners at the expense of the working class. This position is part of the only elected state tax commission in the United States; if we win this race, DSA-LA would have a member in a crucial office necessary for administration of the state—not to mention one of the most populous districts that any DSA member has ever been elected to. This is an office that is both winnable for the chapter, as it covers large swathes of our base, but also could make a direct impact in the lives of working-class Californians. Sam has served for years in a variety of active chapter positions, and is a committed chapter member; he also has deep roots with working class communities in LA, the labor movement in general, and the left-organizing sphere that will make his campaign one of the strongest that we have engaged in.
