Saving Lives Is Not Terrorism - The Escalation

Your rights and freedoms in the UK are under attack.

For almost a year now we've been getting arrested for holding signs. We were not listened to by the Court of Appeal and we clearly need to escalate. It has become apparent that we cannot do that with on-the-ground numbers alone, so we need to go bigger.

‼️ It is imperative that you read the Action Briefing Document in full before participating in this action. ‼️

By flagrantly defying section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000 (encouraging or inviting support for a proscribed organisation), and in addition, if you want to, section 11 (membership of a proscribed organisation) online we create a much harder dilemma for the police than the signs do. It is the greater and more serious offence, but it is also not a mass gathering in a public place.

The dilemma for the police;

  • If they make arrests, it costs a lot of money and resources to go and get everyone. Crown court trials, which are much more involved than the sign-holders’ magistrates trials (even if Lammy’s jury reforms go through). If they truly saw Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation then any support shown online would lead to speedy investigations and arrests.
  • If they don't make arrests, they will have shown their hand. If they do not charge us, when we are publicly, without shame, defying their ridiculous ban, it just shows that no one really thinks Palestine Action is dangerous, or that the Terrorism Act should be used to limit political dissent and free speech.

So far the precedent seems to suggest it will be the latter. Nobody has been raided/arrested for Section 12 since our seven Open Call speakers at the beginning of September 2025. Since then, there have been numerous public and blatant acts of defiance without any action taken. If they do go after people, it shows that policing over this matter is wildly inconsistent.

Nothing in this plan is a certainty. To be part of the first round of this action is important, although it may seem extremely daunting. Paving the way for larger numbers to follow will always work this way - think of the first brave sign-holders in Parliament Square last July!

If you do decide to take action in this way, you will be part of an escalation and resistance which has never happened in this form in this country ever before. Your actions may inspire others to join, and even if they don't, they will still show that resistance to the ban and genocide of the Palestinian people is alive and well.

Please note that this action comes with significant legal risks and potential consequences, but there’s no reason to suspect that signing the form itself is a crime.
