Know Your Rights: Employee Misclassification, the Legal and Financial Implications

Do you know the difference between being an employee and an independent contractor? In this class, we will teach students the differences among  employees, independent contractors and sole proprietors, and the legal and financial implications of each. We will also present an action plan for students who believe they have been misclassified and teach them how to advocate for themselves in the future.

Ethics: Opening a Compliant Massage Therapy Practice in Chicago
In this course, we will discuss the importance of adhering to local codes and ordinances when operating a massage therapy practice, and the challenge of operating in Chicago. We will review the pros and cons of being an employee, independent contractor or sole proprietor, and some different business structure options. We will prepare students who are thinking about starting a private practice in Chicago by helping them develop an action plan to begin a legal, safe and ethical private practice.
