SIGN ON: It’s time for the U.S. Senate to investigate corruption and ethical lapses at the Supreme Court.

The American people's confidence in our democracy itself is being shaken by the Court’s ethical lapses, corruption, and political rulings that consistently go against the rule of law and will of the people.

The House Judiciary Committee held a critical hearing on Thursday, December 8th to investigate recent allegations of misconduct at the Supreme Court. Now, we need the U.S. Senate to continue this investigation and protect our federal judiciary from abuse.

SIGN THE PETITION TO CONGRESS:

“This Supreme Court is increasingly facing a legitimacy crisis. The U.S. Senate must launch a full investigation and take steps to restore the American people’s trust and confidence in the Supreme Court.”

We will share the support for this petition with the media, the White House, and key allies in Congress.

BACKGROUND:

Rulings by this court striking down abortion rights, voting rights protections, common-sense state and local gun regulations, federal efforts to combat climate change, and more -- against the will of the people -- have shaken the American people’s confidence in this Court and our democracy overall.

The New York Times reports that Justices Scalia, Thomas, and Alito all met with representatives of a right-wing group lobbying to influence the Court’s decisions -- and Justice Samuel Alito may have leaked confidential information about a pending contraception case to the groups’ wealthy donors.

Justice Clarence Thomas has repeatedly intervened in cases involving efforts to overturn the 2020 election, despite obvious conflicts of interest that exist because of his wife’s involvement in those efforts.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett sat for oral arguments in a case being litigated by an organization that has paid her for at least five speaking engagements since 2011.

Justices Alito and Brett Kavanaugh met with the head of an anti-LGBTQ group that had filed a brief in a case for which the Court heard oral arguments less than three weeks earlier.

Justice Neil Gorsuch spoke to a conservative group at the Trump International Hotel shortly after Trump nominated him to the Court and less than two weeks before the Court heard oral arguments in a case challenging Trump’s Muslim travel ban.

On three separate occasions, Chief Justice John Roberts has failed to recuse himself from cases before the Court in which he owned stock related to one of the parties.

It is long past time for the justices to be held accountable -- and that can begin with a full investigation by the U.S. Senate into ethical lapses and accusations of corruption at the Supreme Court.
