SIGN: Protect separation of church and state. No 10 Commandments displays in public schools.

Louisiana has just passed a law requiring public schools to display the Ten Commandments in public schools, threatening the separation of church and state.

Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Utah are considering similar proposals.

The First Amendment is clear when it says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.”

And, in 1797, the Treaty of Tripoli declared that “the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion…”

Public schools should be a welcoming environment for students of all faiths, creeds, and beliefs.
