Sign the petition: Demand that the Biden Administration HALT all deportations to Haiti
Right now, Haitian migrants are seeking safety in the U.S. amidst the political unrest and recent 7.2 magnitude earthquake that devastated the island-nation this summer.
Families and children are crammed together in makeshift encampments at the border in Del Rio, desperately awaiting the chance to plead their asylum cases. But the Biden administration has chosen to continue the illegal, Trump-era Title 42 policy, which closes the border to people seeking asylum, and plans to rapidly “expel” them to Haiti instead.
In just the last few days alone over 1,400 Haitian migrants have been deported back to danger and even more expulsion flights are expected in the coming days.
This is not who we are. Haitians deserve freedom, shelter, and compassionate welcomes.
Join us in demanding that the Biden Administration HALT all deportations, end Title 42 immediately, and extend Temporary Protected Status for Haiti.
It is not enough to condemn the actions of border officials against Haitian migrants if the administration does not actionably address the crisis at Del Rio, TX, the abuse Haitians face in detention centers, and the life-threatening risk they face when deported. (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has the authority to parole Haitians into the U.S. on a case-by-case basis. The administration must use its power to grant humanitarian parole for Haitians and put an end to these deportations.
The Biden Administration has acknowledged the need to keep Haitian migrants safe earlier this year when it designated the country for Temporary Protected Status, but it still continues making the wrong choices. We cannot continue sending expulsion flights full of children, some as young as 3 days old, and families back to turmoil. We need to welcome Haitian migrants with the dignity and compassion they deserve.
Haitians deserve freedom, shelter, and compassionate welcomes. And yet for years, Haitian migrants have lacked legal avenues to pursue their basic human rights at our border.
Sign the petition to demand that the Biden Administration use the authority of the Executive Office to end deportations, end Title 42, and extend TPS for Haitians.
