Elon Musk spent $44 billion to purchase Twitter, espousing free speech protections. Since then, Musk has embarked on a nonstop campaign of mismanagement, hate speech, and misinformation.

From hate-filled rants to abuse of labor to down-and-out temper tantrums, we denounce Musk’s Twitter reign:

• Since purchasing Twitter, Musk has personally tweeted antisemitic symbols and imagery.

• To further promote hate speech and reduce protections for users from abuse, Musk intends to restore accounts that were previously removed for racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, and anti-LGBTQ speech.

• Musk has lorded over his employees in a heinously cruel fashion. From the jump, Musk eliminated nearly half of Twitter's workforce, or about 3,700 jobs – including employees who dared to criticize his management.

• Under Musk, Twitter will no longer be enforcing its past rules against COVID-19 misinformation – a policy that was intended to reduce the number of pandemic deaths caused by conspiracy promoters and bad actors. Additionally, Twitter's teams tasked with preventing the spread of child pornography have been wiped out.

• In very Trump-esque fashion, Musk baselessly pleads for civil discourse as he openly mocks progressive leaders.

Twitter is one of the largest social media platforms on the planet. Musk’s claims of “free speech” are just an obvious pass for racism, homophobia, transphobia, antisemitism and blatant disinformation.

And Musk has a long history of labor rights abuses which he continues to demonstrate without accountability.

Elon Musk is not the savior of free speech – he’s just a man with money and a platform to espouse his tantrums. Join us in vehemently denouncing Elon Musk!
