Premier, today’s announcement is a huge step forward - NSW is finally getting pill testing! Your decision to start a festival-based trial, kicking off at Yours and Owls, will help save lives and reduce harm. This is smart policy in action.
But festivals are just the beginning. People don’t only need drug checking a few weekends a year, they need it whenever and wherever they’re making decisions about their health.
Right now, the risks are higher than ever. Dangerous synthetic opioids like Nitazenes are turning up in Australia, and more contaminated and high-dose drugs are in circulation. People deserve to know what they’re taking - no matter where they are!
We’re asking you to take the next step. Make pill testing permanent. Make it accessible. Let’s protect our community and prevent needless tragedies.
