Sign the petition: Oppose the horrific treatment of asylum-seekers

The inhumanity at our borders must end. Texas state troopers have been caught in horrific acts against asylum-seekers, proving yet again that the state's treatment of immigrants is immoral, unacceptable, and frankly, inhumane.

Under the leadership of Governor Greg Abbott, Texas is turning into a fascist government that displays a flagrant contempt for human rights.

Miles of razor wire were deployed by state troopers along the shores of the Rio Grande and in the river itself, allegedly to "deter" asylum-seekers from crossing the river. It's crystal clear that these obstacles, placed in the river and along its banks, were designed to cause injury and even death.

Emails surfaced exposing the cruel orders given to officers to "push small children and nursing babies back into the Rio Grande." It's a heartrending tale of callousness, of a four-year-old girl passing out from heat exhaustion after being pushed back, and of a pregnant woman having a miscarriage and found entangled in the wire, doubled over in pain.

Enough is enough. This is not the way people should be treated. We need to hold accountable those who are abusing their power and authority in such a cruel and heartless manner.

We must demand an investigation into these human rights abuses.

We are standing up against a government that chooses cruelty over compassion, that prefers to harm than to help.

Sign the petition and demand an immediate investigation into what is happening at our borders.
