Recently student loan servicer MOHELA neglected to send timely billing statements to 2.5 million borrowers in a glaring example of systemic failure that puts the financial futures of countless individuals at risk.

Over 800,000 borrowers missed their loan payments due to this error causing them to become delinquent on their loans. People's lives and futures can be derailed by such gross negligence. And it's not an isolated incident. The entire student loan system is plagued with similar issues, where borrowers are left to bear the brunt of servicers' mistakes.

Student loan servicers must be held accountable for their errors, and swift corrections must be made to rectify any and all mistakes. Borrowers should not have to pay for the servicers' incompetence or spend hours of their time trying to figure out how to fix these issues. We need transparency in how our loans are managed and what's happening with our financial obligations.
